Vedic Astrology and the

Western Astrology Myth

During the Reign of Pope Gregory over the Christian world he ordered a new calendar to be set up that was, typically, named after him - the Gregorian Calendar. This new calendar threw off everything by about two weeks, and while the Astronomers of Europe updated their calendars the Astrologers did not out of defiance. The result has been quite a mess as can be attested by my being labelled as a Pisces by the western system when I am actually an Aquarius. This truth is shown quite clearly in the realm of Vedic Astrology which has never suffered through a calendar change.

Both for the sake of giving you a better understanding of Vedic Astrology and, for those who may be interested in working with me a better understanding of who and what I am, I am posting my Vedic reading below. In it you will see that it is still very much a patriarchal system - there is currently no good matriarchal system available - but it is still an excellent system and much better than Western Astrology. And, at the end you will see the contact information for the man who did the reading for me so that you may contact him for help with your own life. Here it is:

We suffer within the limitation and level of awareness of our current incarnation. Astrology is a tool which provides insight and awareness of your strengths and weaknesses. It's the soul print just as you have a thumb print. The study of astrology is the study of discovering your True Self. To quote Crowley who was a master in astrology:

"Astrology has no more useful function than this: to discover the innermost nature of a man and bring it out into his consciousness, that he may fulfill it according to the law of light (stars)."

The Five components to discovering and understanding your True Self are the Ascendant, Moon, Sun, the Nakshatras and the Rahu/Ketu axis.

The Ascendant represents your physical body and how you approach your surrounding world.

The Sun represents the True Self .

The Moon represents the mind, perceptions and the emotions.

The Rahu/Ketu axis shows the struggles that each incarnation brings.

The Nakshatras are the mansions in which karma awaits us.

Gemini Ascendant - Gemini seeks to follow an intellectual path. They can see from different points of view. They are very mental, curious, versatile and restless. Gemini are intellectual and witty. It's a mutable sign so they adapt quickly to any situations. Gemini are ruled by Air and need to watch for being too talkative, restless, cynical, and know it alls.

The evolutionary goal is to develop the opposing qualities of Sagittarius, to believe and have faith in those things they do not understand.

Moon(mind & emotions) in Gemini- fast moving mind, witty, clever and charming, at times fickle.

Moon's nakshatra: Ardra means "tears or moist".

Presiding deity is Rudra. Rudra is the fierce side of Shiva. His mission is to destroy ignorance.

The First house is the house of Self, bodily appearance, health, vitality, will power, self esteem.

A very powerful and intense 1st house. The Ascendant sign, Moon and Ketu in Gemini are all in the Ardra nakshatra. Ardra is one of the most challenging nakshatras. The soul who embodies Ardra must learn to manage their anger and release negative emotions through tears. The soul must allow "teardrops" because they will see with tremendous clarity and release tension from the mind by doing so. If they do not they can become very self-destructive. Ardra souls in this lifetime are learning to control their stormy nature and destroy ignorance while directing their consciousness towards the law of nature.

Rudra the fierce god is always carrying a medicine bag and is the chief physician among all physicians and the exorcists.

Fortunately Jupiter in Gemini is in a different nakshatra and helps soften the stormy Ardra nature. It presides in the nakshatra Punaravasu which means "return to the light." This makes a great combination for intellectual and spiritual wisdom.

Jupiter in the first house brings a lot of spiritual blessings, wisdom, confidence, and long life. Negative side: weight gain, arrogance and doubt

Sun (the True Self) in Aquarius: The individual, intellectually oriented, the urge to live with detachment and scientifically. The Aquarian nature is restless, creative, inventive, impatient, and determined. They are often quite aloof and hard to get close to. They are honest and frank whether you ask for it or not.

Sun nakshatra: Shatabhisha means "the hundredth healer." it bestows gifts in the healing arts, knowledge of herbs and other flower remedies. A Shatabhisha placement is mystical in nature. They make good astrologers and can show you the way to balance out Karma. They are truth seeking.

The negative side includes laziness, addictions, perversions, and vulnerability to all types of mental/emotional/psychological disorders.

The 9th house is the house of dharma, father, guru, teachers, philosophy, law, spirituality, religion and long distance travel.

Sun in the 9th house: True Self will express itself through spiritual and religious nature. He will benefit from a guru and and express himself as a spiritual guru/ teacher. He will be well educated and honest and honorable. Sun Aquarius, in the nakshatra Shatabhisha will rebel from traditional religions and practice unorthodox spiritualities.

Rahu in Mula: means "getting to the root", presiding deity is Niritti, goddess of "calamity" placed in the 7th house.

The 7th house is the house of partnerships, spouse, marriage, business partner, adultery, aimless wandering.

The souls journey with Rahu in the 7th house is learning to surrender and find oneself through partnership. Niritti being ruling deity, the soul must be careful not to cause calamities in their relationships as the ego struggles to surrender.

The remedy to calm Niritti is to meditate in the cemetery. She is a goddess of the cemetery. An aspect of Kali.

Personal Deity

Ishta Devata

Ishta Devata is your personal chosen deity.

Identifying your personal deity and cultivating a relationship allows you to connect with an aspect of the divine that is it alignment with your own nature. The Fifth house is the house where the Ishta Devata is identified. Your Fifth house is ruled by Libra with Saturn placed there. Therefore your personal deities are Maha Kali and Rudra

Current Cycle:

Saturn is currently transiting through your 5th house. Saturn transits through the entire zodiac every thirty years. It transits for 2.5 years per house. Your natal Saturn is in Libra in exaltation. Saturn rules authority, discipline, responsibility, consistency, conservatism, practicality, delays, humiliation, doubt, and depression.

The 5th house indicates our creative intelligence, discrimination, children, investments, Dharma, spiritual techniques, mantra, yantra, Ishta Devata

& past life merit.

You began your 2nd Saturn Return in the 5th house by receiving your Aghori Mantra in October which was a very auspicious omen. You can expect an increase in spiritual authority and responsibility. The remainder of the next two years will keep you very busy creating spiritual techniques and learning how to express yourself while stepping into greater power as a guru/teacher. Warning: Saturn will test you. I recommended you read the "Greatness of Saturn" by Robert Svoboda.

Jupiter: Growth and expansion, humanitarian and spiritual, wisdom, optimism, overconfidence, overindulgence, greed. Jupiter transit through the entire zodiac every twelve years. It transits for 1 year per house. As of May 23 Jupiter will transit your first house.

The First house is the house of Self, bodily appearance, health, vitality, will power, self esteem. Jupiter entering the first house is a major cycle of growth. Ages 18, 30, and 42 were the last times Jupiter transited your first house. You might want to reflect about what went on during that time. Similar events might unfold regarding health, self esteem, or both. Jupiter transiting the first house: Increase of confidence and self esteem and spiritual blessings during this transit. Caveat possible weight gain and over inflated self.

Also chart indicates possible pancreas challenges which is also Jupiter's domain.
